Sony previously only sold Crystal LED display systems to commercial customers, but now it can also be provided to wealthy consumers. At NAB 2019 in April, Sony announced a 790-inch Crystal LED giant screen display system. It is 17 feet high, 63 feet wide and has a resolution of 16K. The system needs to assemble a series of micro-LED panels with a single panel size of 16 *18 inches and a resolution of 320*360.
Different number of module layout can create different screen size and display resolution. If you think Full HD is enough, you can use 18 panel modules to form a 1080p @ 110 inch (8 x 4 feet) screen.
If 72 panels are used, the display area of 4K @ 220 inches (16 *9 feet) can be spliced together. Or use 288 panels to stitch together an 8K @ 440-inch (32 x 18-foot) screen.
For those customers who want to exceed 8K resolution, 576 panels can be purchased to form a 16 K @ 790 inch (63 x 18 feet) giant screen.
In addition to the shocking screen size, it uses Crystal LED (Micro-LED) technology, and the pixel size is only 1/100 of the traditional OLED.
In addition, it has higher brightness (supporting 1000-nit and HDR content), 10-bit gray scale, covering 140% sRGB gamut, contrast of more than 1 million:1, visual angle of 180 degrees, supporting 3D and 120fps frame rate.
Referring to the cost of a single module (about $10,000) that is roughly the same as a large high-end OLED TV, the price of the 4K version of Sony Crystal LED Giant Screen Cinema is $720,000 and the 16K version is as high as $5.8 million.
